A stolen vehicle was recovered in Owen Sound thanks to Automated Licence Plate Recognition technology (A.L.P.R.).
On Friday, September 20, 2024, about 8:30 p.m., Owen Sound Police recovered a 2023 Nissan Murano that had been reported stolen to the Chatham-Kent Police Service in August.
The 46-year-old female driver of the stolen SUV was apprehended on 1st Avenue East.
Not only was the SUV stolen, but authorities discovered a second set of license plates inside the vehicle that the driver was not legally allowed to have.
The accused was charged under the Criminal Code with possession of the stolen motor vehicle as well as possession of property obtained by crime and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in October of 2024.
